August already - what is coming this month?

Hi ladies, I just want first of all to thank you for the contributions and support you gave to our July Events. All the presentations we had were fabulous and we really appreciate the effort you make in putting them together and more importantly turning up.
We had our first fundraising event in July, and raised just over £150.00 for the Arthur Rank Hospice.
We also had a garden party and what a surprise, the weather was beautiful! Suzanne and I both enjoyed having a relaxed evening with those who attended, and we were very lucky to have Lily Bartlett serenading us for the evening.
We have a great agenda for the next couple of weeks, and hope you will be able to make at least one of these meetings.
Woodman Inn - 18th August 9:30 am
Polly Joseph will be doing a goal review with us all. Some of you will have set some goals with us at the end of last year, so the challenge is to find them and bring them in... If you didn't not a problem, please bring in any goals or objectives you have set for yourself in during 2026. Polly will lead us through the review and lets see what we need to do to get them, over the line.
Arthur Rank Hospice - 18th August 4:30 pm
We are very excited to announce that together with Mentors for Women we are going to be supporting the launch of Million Moons.
“Nikki Joy and Kate from Howami , a tech for good impact and mission driven start up - introduce Million Moons
Howami’s mission is to create a new generation of digital tools that help young people understand their bodies, emotions, and menstrual cycles with confidence, compassion, and curiosity.
By combining lived experience, creativity, and tech for good Howami are building a future where menstrual well-being is understood as an essential part of emotional health, not something hidden or endured.
The Million Moons initiative was thoughtfully designed, after realising that traditional funding routes couldn't move at the pace the mission demanded. It is a global storytelling and inclusive, gift-inspired fundraising campaign, inviting one million people to share a moment, memory, or lived experience of menstruation.
This will create a powerful cultural archive in 2026 that breaks stigma, amplifies unheard voices, and helps fund the next generation of accessible menstrual well-being tools for young people everywhere.”
We will be hosting the founders of Howami at Arthur Rank on 18th August at 4:30 pm and would love as many of you as possible to join us with your daughters, mothers, sisters and girl friends.
If you can bring some cakes that attendees can make a donation for to Arthur Rank that would be great.
I would just like to also say that Arthur Rank has offered us this amazing space free of charge in return for fund raising over the year and we made our first donation last month. It is a much needed and very beautiful space and I know some people find it difficult to go there because it is a place for end of life. We should all try to honour such places even though we don’t talk about end of life much in our society. I have experienced the loss of two sisters and a mother in such a place. I know what a difference it can make not just to our loved ones but to the family members. Just like menstruation, which signals the beginning of life Arthur Rank supports the end. So please don’t let that be a blocker to attending this event if you can make it.
Please let us know if you can make it and help to launch a million moons, or just turn up.
Whaddon Village Hall 24th August 7:15pm
This is our new regular slot for our social event, the fourth Monday of the month. As well as some drinks and healthy nibbles, we will be having a taster yoga session with the lovely Carly, known to some of you as Yoga Carly. She won't be hard on you I promise, so come dressed for that and bring a mat if you have one. I know Carly always has a few to hand if you don't have one.
This is a paid for event to cover the costs of the evening £10.00 per person.

The Duncombe Arms Waresley - 27th August 9:30 am
We are delighted to have Chloe Ambrose back with us to talk about the Boos, Ooos and Woos of Social Media. We had a great interactive session with her at the Arthur Rank a couple of months ago. It is very much an interactive session, so please bring any questions you have, no power point.. just talk and examples of how to and how not to in Social Media. Chloe describes her self as "an intentional social media expert & idea hunter for purpose-led brands looking to be better"
That's all for now. except I just what to share this wonderful photograph by Sarah Haskell, she told us all about her life in the armed forces, and she is going to come to the other locations soon for repat performances, it was absolutely fascinating.
