October news from Just Women
It seems like the year is almost over, I can't believe we are in October already, I was at Wimpole yesterday afternoon where my grandchildren were having great fun with all the leaves on the ground, after completing the Hungry Caterpillar Trail.
First of all I know some of you have seen Suzanne's message on WhatsApp, but in order to make sure we catch everyone here it is again.
"Just to let you all know that unfortunately due to work and family commitments I'm having to step down as a Founder of JWN. However I am staying on as a Host, mainly at The Woodman. See you all soon and have a lovely weekend ahead x"
Obviously I am really sad about this, as I have enjoyed working with Suzanne but its great she feels she can still be around as a host.
We are now incorporated as a limited company, after much thought about becoming a CIC, it added a level of work we didn't want to undertake. I will be working in the coming months on streamlining the processes to take us to the next stage and allow expansion. What does that mean you might ask? There are a number of things under way.
We have two potential new hosts and meetings. No dates yet but in order to facilitate this we need to automate as much a possible, for example.
We will asking you to book in for any sessions you are attending, and will make that available to you on your phone. This does not mean you wont just be able to turn up.
Hosts will be able to upload photos on the day from their phone, and write updates about the meeting, making the monthly newsletter easier to prepare.
Host will be allocated to sessions, which means I will not be at every session, which I currently am, and will give me the capacity to work on the new sites and building attendance.
We have been talking for a long time about having a minimal charge for attendance, and I talked about this in our last newsletter. We are implementing this now, and here are the three options for payment.
An Annual Fee for attendance at as many networking sessions a month as you want. £60.00 pa pay here:
A Monthly Fee for attendance at as many networking sessions a month as you want, £6.00 a month paid by standing order to the following account.
Sort Code 04-06-05 Account number 32287536 Just Women Network Ltd
An Adhoc fee for those who don't attend every month £6.00 paid here. https://pay.tide.co/products/adhoc-membe-wLc9zBTk
Don't forget to add your name to any payment you make, or we wont know who you
are!
I said in last months newletter, that I dont want this to stop anyone attending if they simply cannot afford to pay. Please just send me a message.
The payment links will also on be on the website. https://JustWomenNetwork.com\membership
Thanks to those who have already subscribed. Just to reiterate this is to cover the administration costs incurred by running the groups. This will all be made easier to mange when we make the changes I talked about earlier.
Last month we were lucky to have Armajia talking about and showing us some of her fabulous work. It was a real pleasure to listen to her and actually see some of the work in real life ! She is making big strides towards taking her art into a gallery, which is really exciting.
At the Duncombe Arms we had Just Me with Nathalie Cordell, I love her story and it still gave me goose pimples the second time around. This was followed very aptly as it happened with Judith Davis Roach talking about the Wheel of Life, and where we were out of balance in our lives. Lively debate ensued and we all came away with a plan to change one thing in our lives. You will notice we had a lovely well behaved dog attending to. Not at all unusualfor our meetings.
Talking of dog updates, Louise Hampton's dog had five beautiful puppies, and Suzanne's dog is also expecting. Both of these dogs are regular attendees at our meetings, so I thought i would share the news.
I haven't mentioned Arthur Rank, because it didn't happen, well it did but unfortunately I was the only one to turn up. I have cancelled next months because I have a delivery coming that day, which I have been waiting for since the beginning of August. New kitchen doors, its been a bit of a saga. I was supposed to be presenting as well, so the easiest option was to move that to the future. I am going to work on getting the word out about our meeting in the Arthur Rank Hospice, to build a bigger community there. It would be interesting to get feedback from the community about how people feel about attending a meeting at the Hospice. I know Lisa and I are keen to break down barriers people have about it. It is a beautiful space, and we are no where near patients who are attending or staying there. I have had experience of two family members being cared for in a hospice, and they do such wonderful work, I am keen to support them as much as possible. Please feel free to talk to me or Lisa about it, if its something you find difficult to deal with. We have now raised £650.00 for the hospice, and we have plans to do more pop up cafes where we can sell our cakes and craft items.
So coming up in October we have :
Woodman Inn 20th October 9:30 am
Just Me - Judith Davis Roach - The Wheel of Life
Just Present - Suzanne Porter - Why invest in a pension
Duncombe Arms 29 Oct 2026, 09:30 – 11:30
Just Present - Marie Janson Jones - Move Better, Feel better and maybe Look Younger, The Fascia Connection
No meeting at Arthur Rank - for reasons already explained above.
We did try to start up some social events, but the take up hasn't been great, so I will be talking to you all about that to see if we can make it work. For the time being I have taken them out of the diary.
